Friendly staff. Beautiful spot to sit on a sunny day and look out over the lake. We had their breakfast buffet and street tacos. Tacos were great. Buffet was very good.
Their Sunday breakfast is THE BEST! Great views, great service. A nice, quiet, rather upscale place.
The bright and nicely appointed lakeside restaurant is a part of Heidel House Spa and Resort. It is a beautiful setting to enjoy your breakfast or simply a cup of coffee. Great ambiance.
Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the setting. To be different, I ordered breakfast nachos. After reading the description in the menu, I was dreaming of a decadent plate of nacho chips overflowing with melted cheese with copious amounts of chorizo and a pair of perfectly medium fried eggs and bright avocado green guacomole on the side. But it was not to be. To be sure, the presentation was beautiful with the plate overflowing with colorful chips but everything else was sub par. Basically, too many chips and not enough toppings is not my idea of any kind of nachos, breakfast or not.
My partner ordered vegetarian frittata made with egg whites and served with parfait. Again, my kudos to the chef for the presentation. However, the substance was lacking with undercooked egg white (slimey looking) on the bottom and burnt egg whites on the top. In between was filling of spinach and tomatoes that seemed to have been previously frozen. At it's most gracious, it was cold to the touch. The sprinkled cheese topping made it pretty to look at. Accompanying it was a cup of parfait with granola and "fresh berries" topping. A wonderful presentation, but hints of rancidity rendered it distastefully inedible. My apologies to the chef.
Coffee was barely OK. Service was wonderful. Our server was helpful without being intrusive.
I believe the resort needs to up it's game with this restaurant. But perhaps, they don't because it is the only game available in the morning. I would rather go without breakfast here and make do with the lobby or in-room coffee.
