Absolutely adorable place! My friend and I split a strawberry shake, which was delicious!!! My friend had a burger and I had the portebella mushroom sandwich... Neither of us left disappointed! We will definitely be returning the next time we are in town.
Vintage, old diner in downtown Wausau. Stopped for late lunch. Wife had a gyro salad, I opted for a hot turkey sandwich. Hard to screw up a hot turkey sandwich unless you use fake potatoes. While the turkey wasn’t carved right off the bird it was still tasty. The mashed potatoes and gravy were terrific. Gyro salad very good. This is a solid, basic locale for home cooked food, no frills. Some sites claim it’s a top 5 restaurant in town. Go and determine your own rating. I’d go back again.
Made a pitstop in SP to grab lunch and glad we found this historical diner. I was dressed for the beach, but didn't feel out of place here. The Patty melt was great, and made the classic way. Places like this always seem to be in motion, you see the inner workings of a restaurant. From the visible kitchen line, to the servers working behind the counter. I imagine it's quite busy during school seasons.
Very quaint and interesting decor. Cheese curds flavorful and cheesy. No empty ones. The gyro sandwich was good and my husband really liked his upgraded wagyu burger. The black forest pie had a flaky crust and plenty of fruit. Friendly staff.
Really good food and service.
A funny situation took place while waiting for our server. A women at the next table was vocally rude about how she never got service. "And that there were hundreds of other restaurant she could go to and she expected good service".
My waiter responded in a very courteous way saying "I'm sorry ma'am but you're not in my section".
The woman at the other table promptly shut up. And then at the end of the meal my waitress said "I'm sorry I had to say that to the lady."
anyway I really appreciated how she stood up for herself and didn't take the rudeness of the customer.
Bravo!!!!
Definitely check out the mint for superb dining and food!!
