Smokin' Oak BBQ

Highly recommended. The owner Diana is AWESOME. Large bar separate from the dining room, wonderful atmosphere best food anywhere near Montello. Looks like she’s been expanding the menu lately, that can only make it better. I had the brisket sandwich last time I was there, absolutely fabulous.

My first time there and I was disappointed. I was told they have a 4 page menu online. We got there and for the main course you only have 3 choices: Ribs, Pork and chicken. I wanted the chicken dinner and they were sold out at 5pm on a Friday night. So I had to settle for their chicken sandwich with fries at $12. The portion size was small for the price. $8 should have been the max price for what we got. The food did taste good. They have a nice facility. Our service was good, but the table across from us waited 10 minutes to get silverware after their dinner was served. Will I go back? Well, I might give them one more chance on the chicken dinner, but I'll have to call ahead to make sure they even have it.

The restaurant was clean, remodeled, and spacious. A little cold in the dining room. Our server was great. Friendly, knowledgeable, and efficient. I saw the menu online and it was 4 pages, so it was disappointing that when I got there, it was only 1 page. They had 3 dinner options and one was sold out. (The one I wanted). We ordered pulled chicken sandwiches and fries. The chicken was tender and well seasoned and the roll was fresh. French fries were hot, seasoned well, and not greasy! The only downfall was portion size for the price. Overall, good.

My partner and I stopped here on one of our many road trips. It was a brand new place so we wanted to give it a shot. And we both love BBQ. I got the pulled pork sandwich and he got the pulled chicken sandwich with Mac and cheese. The BBQ seemed watery and like it had been sitting in a steamer tray for quite some time even though we visited at 2:00 in the afternoon. We were told that the Mac and cheese was made to order but I could tell that was not the case. It tasted very processed and bland. The BBQ was ok but the selection of different BBQ sauces was nice. We did take a few of the spicy sauce with us. I think that was the best part of the meal.

The brisket is outstanding! Moist and flavorful! They use genuine hickory to smoke and it shows. Loved the cornbread with honey butter. The Mac and cheese is delicious as well. This was my first time here; it will be a regular stop from now on. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough!
