Sausage. Beer. Strange things on TV. If this doesn't scream Milwaukee I'm not sure what does. The food was delicious and the menu creative... the place is a perfect fit for Bay View.

Amazing sausages! The chili fries were delicious too. So many flavors on the sausages but it all worked. Can't wait to go back. Laid back vibe.

Best sausages in town. Not a joke. And this is coming from a 32-year Wisconsinite. Not to be confused with the best brats one can make on their own, but as a restaurant, few can even come close. Happens to be a killer bar, as well. Rough combination for the right (wrong) person.

I heard about Vanguard from listening to the Bill Burr podcast from when he did a gig in Milwaukee so I had to try it. This is my idea of blue collar heaven. The inside has a purposeful feel of a old corner bar. This is all made possible by a group of guys who love crafting made from scratch sausages. They have an extensive menu of sausages from all over the world. Some with bun some without. Each has its own unique flair. They also have some of the standard varieties in a build your own sausage which I appreciate. The bartenders are friendly the one I talked to had a good knowledge of the extensive whiskey/bourbon selection they have. Vanguard also has a decent selection of beers on tap. If it's your first time there be and you aren't at the bar you can place your order up at the register near the cooking station and register to the left of the bar.
