Damascus Gate Restaurant

I adore their grilled mixed plate! Some of the best hummus I've ever had (excellent olive oil they put on it), and for the price, YOU CAN'T BEAT THE PORTIONS OR THE TASTE! Also, LOVELY, WELCOMING hospitality. A restaurant like this has been LONG OVERDUE. Yes, there are other Middle Eastern places in Milwaukee, but this one is unique (and family/kid friendly)!

Can't decide what's better. The food or the service? I'm just going to go ahead and say both because the service was phenomenal and the food was absolutely delicious. I came here with a group of friends and none of us knew what to expect. We were blown away with how hospitable Ahmad was and he truly made us feel welcomed in the restaurant. On top of this, you can tell a lot of time and effort has been put into the food as we enjoyed every dish we ordered. I definitely recommend ordering the vegetarian mixed appetizer. Also make sure to make room for their delicious desserts! Cheers to a great place, great food, and great people.

We we're excited to finally try Damascus Gate. Well worth it. Large, spacious place, with good lighting and cool pics on the walls. Started with falafel and hummus. I found both to be flavorful, and more subtle than many places. That is a good thing. We were there for lunch, and had the mixed grill and it was very good. Turkish coffee and their special dessert - forget the name now - were very good. Great, friendly service. Will be back!

Delicious food and friendly staff. They will take the time to explain anything you have questions about. The pictures on the wall were cool to look at. The only thing I would recommend for change is to switch from single use cups and sauce containers to reusable. Overall I enjoyed my experience and will definitely be back.

Delicious food. Meats are exquisitely cooked and rice is well-done and delicately flavored. Liked all the sides you get with entree orders as they really rounds out the dishes. Kind of an oddly open space with informal service, but didn't really take away from the experience as the focus is on the food here. Will definitely come back and their social stances/activism is a plus.
