La Cocina del Sur empanadas bar/ Pedro's

What a cool new spot in Riverwest! The food was incredible and the service was great. Our server was personable and so helpful! We got empanadas and a variety of apps, everything was delicious. They have a great happy hour deal as well, with discounts on food and drinks. The atmosphere is hip and cool but not stuffy.

Great little restaurant in Riverwest. Had three versions of a Pisco Sour- regular, passion fruit, & lavender lemon- they were so good. Got the goat cheese fritters with jalapeño honey as an appetizer- very good but small amount for the price. Dinner was arepas Dr choclo which I added chicken- it was good. The best dish though was the llapingachos con chorizo- the cheese potato cake was delicious and that was the best chorizo I’ve ever had.

All of the flavors were exceptional. We almost got a 2nd order of elotes, it was so delicious. The empanadas were the best we’ve had. And the potato pancake melted in my mouth, and the accompaniments that came with the potato pancake were the best part of the meal.

Service by Alex was great, and the environment was very cozy and modern. They also had some great happy hour specials going on when we arrived at 4:30. I highly recommend eating here.

La Cocina del Sur was fantastic! We were able to get seated within 10mins during a very busy time, service was QUICK as well. We had the plantain chips with guac, amazing. 3 empanadas, beef, chicken and mushroom all delicious with the chimichurri sauce. I got the special fish fry, it was delicious as well, would've preferred the sauce on the side as it made the chicharron crust a little bit soggy, but the flavors were there. My wife had the corn bowl with beef and that was very filling and flavorful, the friends had the infamous arepa, can't beat them on their arepas for sure and then ended it all with churros! Lovely atmosphere, lovely serive and lovely food! Highly recommended.

I was so excited to try La Cocina del Sur as I’m a big fan of Pedro’s food truck. The food was delicious! I had the ceviche for an appetizer, the pernil sandwich with yuca fries with an amazing sauce, and for dessert schaum torte & Churros. Everything was literally bursting with flavors. I also loved the plants, lighting, and decor. The restaurant itself was super cute and esthetically pleasing perfect for pictures too. The staff was also really friendly. I will definitely be back soon.
