La Parada has opened in the longstanding Midway Diner, converting what was once a roadside diner into a restaurant and cantina. The lunch and dinner menu follows more traditional Mexican cooking, however an American-style breakfast is still offered most mornings. A small bakery case offers an assortment of sweet desserts and treats. The kitchen is semi-exposed, giving us a peek at competent food preparation.
The dining room and bar area are a bit cozy due to the nature of the building, but still comfortable under most conditions. Perhaps the only minor complaint in this aspect is that the smoke from hot skillet fajitas can hang pretty heavily in the air at times.
The bar offers a good liquor selection, four beers on tap as well as frozen margaritas. Seating here is also a bit tight, but not uncomfortable.
Service was friendly, attentive and generally expeditious.
The new owners are obviously experienced restauranteurs and have made the appropriate investments to set this establishment up correctly. With this comes a new point-of-sale system, which now takes other forms of payment besides cash.
Stopped for lunch with my two youngest kids to fill a pregnancy craving before picking my oldest up from school. Super yummy food, great service, and stroller friendly! Definitely coming back!
Eat local and you wont be disappointed! Excellent customer service. For a Thursday night the whole place was packed and we felt like we had the place to ourselves. Food was served hot and not soggy like some other restraunts... very fresh. Good sized portions as well for the price! Will be back!
La Parada is under new ownership and new management and this has been a good change. The food quality now is much better than under the previous owners. Our dinners tonight were delicious. The servings were large and have provided tomorrow's lunch, too.
I'm not sure why the owners call it "gourmet Mexican" as the menu is standard, but the food was well-prepared and tasted great. We will look forward to returning and trying other dishes on the menu.
Great Mexican food. Was there 2 days ago (Monday BTW). Had a "Combo with 3 entree samples. Kind of like "small plates" but bigger. My Wife and I are now Fans!
