Talk to either of the owners for a couple minutes and you quickly realize that these are two wickedly smart people that are doing wickedly smart things with the soup-sandwhich-salad concept. They doing exactly what they want; the way they want, and it works. They don't even advertise; they've built this by word of mouth. Soups are fresh. They have a rotating selection that are all good. In the fall the squash soup is the best of them all. The sandwiches are like no where else. Meats and salad fillings are made fresh in house. Bread high quality. Served with fruit and chips. Of unique note try the grilled egg salad. All sandwhices can be made as salads. They offer a Solway Salad and the classic West Bend Noodle Strudel as well. Breakfast fare available also. Great sweets. Wide selection of hot and iced teas, wines, and bottle beers. Relaxed atmosphere. Outstanding staff. Ever present puzzle to work on. In cooler months (when able) they'll light a fire. Anywhere would be lucky to have a place like this. Definate must stop in WB.

The Idle Hour is a lovely place to relax and have lunch. Food is great, and a quaint atmosphere. The staff and the location just makes you feel at home. I do wish they accepted cards- they're cash only- but this place is totally worth a trip to the ATM.

An excellent little place in West Bend. Menu not extensive, but food is well prepared and delicious. Place has a very historic feel and look. Their scones are scrumptious and the coffee is hot.

There is a little spinet piano tucked away in the corner and I wonder if it ever gets played.

A great place to idle away and hour or two!

Really nice atmosphere, waiters were kind and food was quick. Portions were small, but the food was delicious. Great place for a weekend breakfast with family.
