The Alex Community Health Centre

.A warm and welcoming community focused enterprise that serves the local community on 17th Ave Se just after 36th ave SE. Breakfast and dinner are prepared by volunteers 6 days a week. I had breakfast there and was surprised by how nice it was. It has a homey feel aThe porridge was smooth and creamy with a perfect blend of cloves and fresh cinnamon. Crisp bacon and a delightful carrot muffin accompanied by hot coffee rounded off the table served meal. The staff were very friendly and the building is spotless. They are funded in part by Calgary Co-op and also are grateful for donations. They run a small community garden which you can see in the neatly organized wooden planters on the grounds and utilise the harvest in the kitchen.
There are a variety of social programs they can assit with as well as a safe and fun area for kids if you are in need.A wonderful addition to the community. Last time i was there a metis woma from The Cree Tribe did a smudging ceremony before lunch. Was very intresting and informative. Learned the Cree were the indigenous people who served as guides for Traders in the Jasper area.

Each & Everyone of the Staff at the Alex went out of their way to give me support when I needed the most!! Sebastian, Chelsea, Jocelyn, Dr. Pierce etc went out of their way to make my life better!! All the Staff at the Alex a person could not ask for a better Support then all the staff at the Alex!! All these people have been a Real Blessing to me!! I will support this organization in each & everyway I can!! For the New Clients entering the Program at the Alex, please follow all the advice your Support Workers have given you!! If you are under Dr. Tamara Pierce's care it is a must that you follow her advice!! Dr. Pierce has helped immensely with my Mental Health!! In my personal opinion, it is very important to have a Great Mental Health to progress!! It is the change in my Mental Health that has changed my life!! Good Luck to all the New Clients!! You couldn't ask for a Better Place!!
