Enjoyed a walk in the woods right in the middle of Calgary. Saw a baby fawn and several eagles. And it’s free!!!
🏴 Flag as inappropriateNice place for a city nature outting. Lots of views, a restored heritage house, and a beaver/duck pond. On the trail is an eagles nest along the bow River, a few benches to sit at along the path.
🏴 Flag as inappropriateI went in mid April '18 and there was still snow on the ground. Plenty of waterfowl and other birds like Magpies, finches, chickadees, woodpeckers, etc. Take a long lens and a good camera. Your cell phone will do but you won't get closeups.
🏴 Flag as inappropriateThis is a great place for a walk. I didn't see many birds, however, and usually see more birds of prey at St. Patrick's Island Park, which is close by. I would return a different day though, as perhaps it was just an unlucky day for birds. We did see a mother deer and her two fawns, which was magical, and it is a beautiful place to walk. It is mostly flat terrain with good trails, so recommended for those with young kids or mobility issues. The visitor centre has information and restrooms.
🏴 Flag as inappropriateVisited this beautiful quiet spot just a few days after the snow storm in late September. Snow was on the ground and no one was in the area. It's a great retreat away from the busy city. If you need a quiet break this is a great place to go.
