When our mid-efficiency furnace kept shutting down last fall we were scrambling to find someone to come and sort it out. I initially called a well-known, and well-advertised, plumbing firm as they'd installed a garage furnace for me six months prior. This time, however, I was informed they wouldn't pay us a visit till two weeks later(!) so they were of no help. After combing through various websites for ideas we decided to give Ian a try, partly due his generally favourable reviews. Long story short: Ian came out that evening and discovered a number of problems with the furnace despite it not being particularly old ( ~ 6 or 7 years old according to the previous homeowners) . Apart from various problems with the unit itself, including an under-performing draft induction blower, Ian determined a major cause of the intermittent nature of the problem was because the furnace hadn't been installed correctly in the first place ("That wasn't inspected!"). Rather than have the expense of correcting myriad faults we decided to have Ian and Andy replace it with a new high-efficiency Goodman the next day and, once a few required tweaks were made, we couldn't be happier. As a bonus, the extra gas used by the garage furnace has been offset by the lower appetite of the new HE house furnace so our natural gas bill hasn't gone up. All that remains to be done now is to have it inspected. Ian was there for us when it mattered and we would recommend his outfit to anyone who wants it done right the first time.
🏴 Flag as inappropriateI contacted Ian’s Furnace to perform a diagnosis on a new boiler system which I had installed for my home heating. The original installer had spent seven weeks on the install/troubleshooting and I was still not getting sufficient heat to supply my home. Ian’s diagnosis revealed a number of serious faults in the original installation design and his team proposed a number of changes that they believed would remedy the problems. The changes were made and within an hour of the boiler start-up I had full heat throughout the home. I found them to be competent, knowledgeable, forthright and honest. After this experience, I can’t see myself using another contractor for my boiler/plumbing needs.
