John is honest, practical, saves me as much money as he can along the way, and he knows his stuff as a very experienced mechanic. And his good sense of humour and his sweet dog Barney greet you when you come in for maintenance and/or repairs. I know little about cars and feel very secure that he doesn't take advantage of my lack of knowledge. Instead he educates me when he knows it will be helpful and I appreciate it. His team is sincere too and I lucked out when I found this Automotive Gem on Gilley!

Our entire family (kids included) take our vehicles to J Petersen Automotive and have always had 10 star service. His advice is always honest and thus when ever we have bought a new car we have always taken it to John for an assessment. I have even purchased a vehicle from him. Should have wrote a review years ago. Been going to John for a few years with my old truck, and John is beyond helpful, professional, and the most genuine and trustworthy mechanic I've ever been to here in Canada or back home. Couldn't recommend him highly enough. Never does any work without asking, only does work that is definitely needed but gives options of things that might need looking at. Price and service is awesome! Wouldn't take my vehicles anywhere else

In 1999/2000 I had a 1992 Honda Civic that was not running properly with knocking sounds, turns out it threw a rod. J Petersen Automotive sourced out couple of used/rebuilt engines, gave me a a chance to choose which engine I wanted. And was able to take care of swapping out the engine. They treated me in a fair and honest manner. I now live in Dallas, TX and do miss this type of automotive service. I have also recommended J Petersen Automotive to my friends and family that still live in the Lower Mainland.
