Kumon Math & Reading Centre

Toktam, the owner is a competent and intelligent woman that runs the centre efficiently with high consideration to the quality of education for children. There are always give and takes in opening a business but as of spring 2019, the staff is sufficient in quantity and training, the number of students is reasonable without overloading the available teachers. They are flexible with timing changes and vacation requests. It is only open for Mon, Wed, Fri with Friday being the most empty if you want your child to have more teacher time.

I have grade 9 and grade 2 boys who attend the reading program. For the grade 2, with only 6 months of time in Canada and only 5 months at Kumon (and elementary), he can read simple novels as fast as his native language. The highschooler has progressed from lack of confidence in ELL1 to challenging himself to get out of ELL by next year.

I believe Toktam cares quite deeply about the education of each student, and in proxy that is how she chooses and leads her staff.

Kumon helpers are awesome. My daughter looks up to and respects all of them. The kind and gentle nature of all the Kumon helpers is what gives her the motivation to continue to follow the Kumon program. Highly recommended. I really believe this has helped her make great progress in her Grade 1 development.
