They often seem to be out of basic things but it has gotten a bit better recently. They carry portofino bread which is amazing and pretty much the only reason I go. The sandwich bar is pretty good.

This Safeway is very conveniently located in a shopping hub on West 4th Ave. which includes a Shoppers Drug Mart, Whole Foods, and other smaller grocery stores. The Safeway stores in general cover all your essential needs, there's meats & deli, poultry, fresh seafood, bakery, and of course, this lication is no exception, it even has a Starbucks counter in the cashier area for your java fix. Everything in the store is neatly arranged and displayed, and always well stocked. All areas are clean and well lighted. Outside they have free parking for customers, which is a plus in this area where sometimes it's hard to find spots out in the adjacent streets. Maybe not the cheapest option in terms of groceries, but at Safeway they keep it consistent in terms of quality.

Some things are only available at Safeway. The quality is always good. Their fresh baked banana bread is the best I've ever tasted, except what mother used to make. :) Olivieri pasts and sauce. Among others. They have more and more organic and vegetarian products. It's good to have Safeway stores in Vancouver.

Not as modern or large as other Safeway Stores. Having a free parking lot in this neighbourhood makes up for a lot of negatives though. The staff is very professional and friendly. Convenient.

Never enough cashiers. Only slightly less expensive than whole foods. Decent stock usually but if they're out of anything good luck finding anyone outside of regular hours. The in-store Starbucks people are nice but the baked goods are often stale. It's pretty clean overall at least.
