For EXPO 1986, GRACE McCARTHY, the Minister of Transportation at the time, contacted all multicultural immigrants in Vancouver, to construct park-like gardens along the new Sky Train route. The idea was that each community "adopt" a garden and take care of it in cooperation with the local parks board.
At this location, the German community built this plaza to celebrate the German heritage in Vancouver. On the monument is many sponsors or organizations. The Germans call this Deutscher Platz and there is a City of Vancouver street sign to show this.
It is a nice place to sit and relax.
Nice area.
