Trout Lake Off-Leash Area Parking Lot

It was grassy. They had the sunshine turned onto full blast. Trees existed.

My favorite lot in the park, large enough to find plenty of spots, small enough to be tucked out of the way. More difficult to approach from the east due to challenging left turns across Grandview Highway / 12th Ave. Be kind and don't block traffic! There are plenty of ways to approach the north lot without causing a nuisance. An expensive farmer's market mecca on summer Saturdays, but otherwise sleepy enough to pop in and drop your car while you visit the amenities. Don't swim in the lake ;)

Being by the lake at sunset is really nice. The area can be muddy unless there hasn't been much rain in a while (ie in summer). Can't recommend for dogs to swim in or drink the lake water in the heat of the summer, my dog has gotten sick, as have many others.

Trout Lake is a great place to go for pretty much anything you would do in a park. Nice paths around the lake are great for walking or running. There's an off-leash area for dogs. Dogs can socialize and fetch at the beach. Parking is easy and free. There's a huge dog meet-up there several times a year. The community centre has a skating rink, gym , pottery craft room, and more.

Located inside John Henry Park 3300 Victoria Drive in Vancouver near Commercial Drive area. Well managed by the Vancouver Parks Board. This is a fairly large park with an ice rink, fitness centre inside the Trout Lake Community Centre with a large parking area attached.
NOTE there are numerous parking areas at the park from various access points. All parking areas are free.
NOTE the dog lease free area is situated at the NORTH END of the park.
I take my dog there almost every day
