Pulmonary Group-Western Ny: Gelfer Alexander MD

I love Dr Gelfer and his sense of humor, his caring and his demeanor. He is working hard to keep me healthy

Dr Gelfer is a very knowledgable Dr., no doubt. I have a few issues with him and the office. (1) The parking is horrible! If your handicapped or have problems walking, you will be miserable. There are a few lose spots otherwise the parking lot is quite a distance. (2) The office staff is very rude. Even the lady that answers the phone sounds like she is doing you a favor. Honestly, I didn't come across anyone in my 20+ visits that was nice. (3) I called and ask that a copy of my records be made as I was moving. Went to pick them up, not done. Called again, went there, same thing. Mailed a request, they never sent them. I ended up moving without them. (4) Dr Gelfer, as I said, know his stuff. Absolutely no bedside manner at all, a cold fish. You spend most of the appointment watching him two finger type whatever he asks you. He has his ears painted on, meaning he doesn't listen to you. He had me on such a high dose of prednisone, I couldn't walk across his parking area to get too his office, Never listened to my concerns. My next Dr reduced the dose immediately. To sum it up, Gelfer is a competent Dr but very old school. He expects to be revered, worshipped, etc. absolutely no personality. Would I go to him again? Maybe, but probably not. I'm sure most patients would agree with the above.
