We feel so lucky to have had our dream wedding at Harbour Mist. The grounds were a gorgeous setting, and the house itself like something out of a fantasy. The photos capturing these memories will be precious to us forever. The managers of the property were also an absolute delight to work with and, when our date had to be adjusted last-minute to adhere to pandemic restrictions, they were 100% accomodating. We would recommend a Harbour Mist stay to anyone, for either major life events or simply a magical intimate getaway. Our only warning is that it's incredibly difficult to leave at the end. Thank you so much.

The weekend we just spent at Harbour Mist was a mix of every kind of weather: A beautiful sunset, pouring down rain, and incredible winds. Yet, the house remained a beautiful, comfortable retreat to host some good friends.
When I go to a new restaurant, after I’ve left, the first thing my wife and I ask each other is whether we’d go back. Well, both of us said on Sunday while driving back to Halifax, that we’d definitely go back. Our friends felt the same.
Harbour Mist provides quality accommodations at a value price. It’s not cheap but experiences to remember never are.
I’ve stayed at all kinds of fancy rental properties over the years — I’m 57 — but none have impressed me like Harbour Mist.
If you want a top-notch place to entertain people you care about, it’s a no-brainer.
    You won’t regret it.

I had my wedding here with about 20 guests in the middle of December 2021, and ten of us stayed for five nights or so in the house itself. The ceremony was held indoors, but that wasn't a shortcoming at all, although I'm sure having one out on the lawn in the summer time would have been lovely. There's a perfect landing at the bottom of the amazing floating spiral staircase for the bride and groom to face each other, and the main floor has more than enough room to accommodate dinner tables for everyone and leave lots of room for socializing and dancing.

What really strikes you about the place is the tasteful abundance of antiques and rustic decorations that are littered throughout the house. There's so many old cans and signs and pieces of art and old shells and cricket bats and funky books and a thousand other knickknacks that perfectly suit the interior and the ambiance. None of it's tacky at all, and it's honestly a sight to behold. The construction of the house itself is also amazing. HUGE wood beams from a trainyard somewhere, lots of fireplaces, nice wood floors, soft carpets, and everything brought together in a new construction that means the amenities and clean and nice and work. I've never been so impressed with such a responsive climate control system! For those who care about such things that part was a 10/10 for me.

Beyond the house itself, the grounds and the surrounding area are phenomenally impressive, and the pictures on the website really don't do the place justice, and I know that's saying a lot because they're already quite impressive. If you're facing the water, looking off to the right there's not a house in sight, except for way across the bay. The view right in front is of tons of water and some of the islands, and further off to the left you get a glimpse of the open ocean. Maybe 300 meters away there are 2 other houses, but they're not obtrusive at all, and it really conveys an impression of isolation and privacy. The entire time we were there we never saw anyone around, which is nice.

The kitchen is outfitted well with all kinds of things to cook and serve food with, but as is typical with most kitchens there's almost always more than you need, and sometimes an eclectic selection of forks and spoons isn't as nice as just one kind of fork and one kind of knife, but this is hardly a criticism and it's not a demerit at all. If there's one piece of advice I could give though, get a knife sharpener for the kitchen knives. Anyone who has properly sharpened knives at home knows how cumbersome it is to use unsharpened knives when at other people's houses.

The internet was fast. There are two TVs that are huge and work great. I think there was Netflix but we didn't use it. Got any 4K content? I don't, haha.

Oh, there's actually three floors to the place, and the pictures of the top floor that are on the website don't include a very charming and manly TV area with a large carpeted expanse for you to luxuriate upon. There's also the most perfect place in the world to wake up and have your morning coffee up there, promise.

Checking in was easy, but booking involved some slow-ish emailing. It didn't ultimately impact the experience, though. On Airbnb the experience is automated, so that won't be an issue if you go that route, not that it even was an issue really. The price differential between Airbnb and booking for a wedding is significant, but duh, weddings are expensive.

Oh, and I also found the management to be totally reasonable to work with. There was a very minor issue that happened while we were there with some damage to a curtain rod, and resolving everything to do with that was not only simple but fair. I liked that a great deal.

10/10 I would absolutely book there again for a Christmas or New Years or birthday in a heartbeat, and even if you're just looking for a place to stay, you're going to have an amazing time.
