The Highlands Motel and Lodge

Bear Lodge is a great little room.

Lovely little spot. Be sure that the room we had (number 1) is simply a spot to rest your head. Tiny room with two twin beds, a fridge, coffee maker and a bathroom. The place was spotless which is my favourite part. But you can tell that some TLC is put into this older location. The newer cedar ceiling in the bath with the new vinyl floor, recently changed out shower set. Tile was clean and shiny. The beds were comfortable enough for my daughter and myself. The room was comfortable before we stepped in. The owners (Paul and Dora?) are very kind people. They knew I was hauling a trailer and he moved his school bus to make room for me. He also offered to drive me to the closest restaurant (I walked - not far) and provided me with utensils when their takeout didn't have any. He did tell me there was a lodge with tables for eating and playing games, across the parking lot, but I didn't go there.

I think my only complaints would be regarding the door locks which seem to baffle my neighbours as well - they work but take a little learning, and some covid awareness since no masks or plexiglass was evident at the front desk.

Prices were very reasonable, IMO, and I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Great hotel! The owners are great and very friendly. It’s just outside of town so you feel like you are away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to all attractions. Everything is very well kept and clean. Every time I come more has been done which is nice to see that they really care about this place.

Very clean rooms and beautiful landscaping. The hosts Paul and Dora are extremely nice people.

I stayed here for a work trip for a week. The place was amazing, rooms were nice and the grounds were a good place to relax and hangout. The beach down the road was a nice walk and very convenient on a hot day. Owners are great people to talk to , had alot of nice conversations. Definitely would go back again and I highly recommend this place . I will be planning a trip back someday .
