Canterbury High School of the Performing Arts

Great Highschool! Very talented students!

I love CHS. I feel accepted here and I'm not scared to be who I am. The teachers are generally really out going and social as well as helpful! Going to chs actually makes me enjoy going to school.

It's an established school of the arts. Very old outdated building with questionable water fountains. They choose less than 50% of applicants for visual, literary, music and dramatic art programs. If you get a "rejection" letter to your application, they say there just isn't enough room, suggesting it's more random choosing. Yet through the Ottawa Carleton school board from grades 1-8, this school board convinces all students everyone's a winner. Then very suddenly it's reality, everyone is not a winner. I personally know people that graduated from one or another of the specialized arts programs, only to find themselves without a future. So at the end of the day, how true it is; everyone is not a winner regardless of attending Canterbury high school or not. Best of luck to all.
