Stopped in yesterday for a bite and was pleasantly surprised. I need to break it down though.

When you first enter the Pub, you are in a non-descript room that is rather depressing. Bathrooms are to the left and right. Small but tidy. We weren't sure exactly what the deal was, if we were to stand or walk in for seating.

A large room with a pool table. bar with stools. Basic tables and chairs, no interior design, nothing interesting on the walls. The walls are a deep red which is very attractive but in themselves, don't add much to the otherwise boring and almost depressed decor. Was like entering a sad legion.

There is a gambling machine and a juke box, so that's chill.

Acoustics... it only takes one loud mouth to dampen the spirits. Sound carries.

The menu is really extensive with menu items we had never seen before. Really good looking burgers. The menu clearly identifies if it has corn or gluten, great for those with dietary restrictions. The menu clearly states that nothing is deep fried. I respect that.

My partner ordered the nachos with cajun chicken. Adding meat cost about $3.50 extra. The pieces were small but for a finger food, that's okay. The nachos looked good but there wasn't enough cheese. Tomato and green peppers were scarce and chopped into very small pieces. The owner did bring extra salsa and sour cream at no extra cost. Some type of seasoned salt was sprinkled over the nachos, pretty off-putting. Wouldn't recommend.

I ordered the "2 course meal" for $15. A very small ceasar salad came, which tasted really good but could have been a bit larger. I also ordered the "hot chicken sandwhich". This was overall an excellent choice. The veg's were a tad over-steamed but still tasted good. I chose fries over mashed potato... I would recommend going with the mashed next time simply because the fries were "cooked" but soft. A sprinkle of salt helped but, they needed help. The chicken... I was expecting pieces pulled off of a chicken, dark and white meat. No. These were delightful chunks of all-white chicken that were flavorful and large. No scrimping in the chicken department. I can't comment on the bread because it had chicken and gravy all over it so I'll just say that it was good. The gravy... fantastic. Can't say anything bad about it. Maybe if I had asked for more I could have drowned the fries and clogged my arteries. yum.

We ordered soft-drinks to go with our meals. We aren't sure if bf was given diet coke or if the coke was just watered. My gingerale also tasted watered down. Probably time to change canisters in the pop dispenser.

The owner is a very friendly, a lovely man. Our bill came to $44. We were full when we left, I was very satisfied, the bf... not so much.

Great little pub, friendly staff and chill vibes. Burgers are AWESOME, fries are a little floppy though get salad instead.

Tom and I had an appointment on the outside of Mitchell and planned to go out for lunch first....so instead of eating in Exeter we decided to look for a place in Mitchell....came across The Rose & Crown (like the name) and so glad we did....very clean....welcoming....owner Phil was very friendly....food was amazing ( my seafood pasta was one of the best I have had)....and not a "franchise" which we like to look for....Thanks Phil for our first visit but not the last.....

The bartender/hostess was amazing and super friendly. The garlic bread on a first date was a perfect choice. So tasty!

Even though we were the only ppl there it was still a great experience. The bar server was very friendly and we had great conversation with her. She made me a wonderful mixed drink that she personally never made before. She used the recipe sheet and made it perfectly!! We will definitely go there again!!
