The most magical bookstore with even more magical people behind the counter. My mother and I rediscovered and nourished our love for reading thanks to A Different Drummer Books.

We knew we were lifelong customers from the first day we met, when Ian allowed our dog to come in despite being allergic to dogs. Or when we were introduced to a foreign world of customer service where every question could be expertly answered, every request met as if Ian and Kate were literary genies that could make any book appear at a whim. My mother and I discovered new authors and heightened our love for older ones. I won't forget when Ian gifted me this wonderful and rare Chinese history series, shipped all the way from China. I've also found my new favorite author, V.E. Schwab, and ventured deeper into the exciting world of fantasy and historical fiction. My mother, a children's book enthusiast, was astounded to meet Kate, a children's book author. She has also discovered many more authors that she would have not tried if she stayed in her comfort zone or relied on less astute booksellers (there have been many). We are happy to say that this bookstore was the best discovery we made in 2021, and the bookstore we'll be going to in the years to come.
