I liked the program and it could have been helpful had things I couldn't see at the time been caught by the professionals. I did CBT here a few years ago. I think I stopped in 2017, my memory is foggy from back then. I went to my meetings once a week like I was supposed to. I then started to go into what I didn't know at the time was psychosis. One of the early warning signs of psychosis is withdrawaling and bad. I first did from my friends, and the councillor knew that. I then slowly withdrawaled from Nexus all together. Slowly but surely, I got kicked out from the program. Am I mad? No. Soni think Nexus is a bad service? No. I just think they need some protocol for when a youth withdrawals rather than just booting them. Had the psychosis been detected back then, I wouldn't have been in it for 2 years and I wouldn't have gone through the things again. Nexus needs to do something for the youth that aren't showing up suddenly too. They're a high risk to themselves a lot but they're still just seen as "lazy" and "don't care". I was severely depressed, hallucinating and in general not leaving my bedroom because I thought people would hurt me. In the time that I stopped showing up before I recieved the letter about the program dropping me, I never recieved a text or phone call from my councilor to see if I was okay. I just thought it was strange. Especially being all about mental health.
Again, I think Nexus is a great program, you should definitely go there if you need help, I just wouldn't again, and I think some things need to be fixed.

This place has been my home away from home for many years growing up. It is a safe place for youth to connect and enjoy a positive environment with games and socializing. This place serves as a beacon for many troubled youth and has impacted the lives of many with their kinds words and supporting staff. A priceless staple in mississauga who has changed the lives of many and served as a positive mentor for Mississauga's younger population. I was one of those youth and cant thank Nexus enough!
