Guelph Solar's team led by Peter Hansen, installed a 20 panel, 6.1 kW, 20 solar panel system on the roof of my house in the fall of 2018, and at the end of December a Tesla Powerwall (13.5 kWh storage capacity) was added. Although I can't feed to the grid, I'm still connected, but I'm almost completely independent of the grid since early March. The Powerwall provides power once the sun goes down and is usually completely recharged by noon the next day. I just purchased a plug-in hybrid car with an 8.5 kWh battery which I will be able to charge with the excess power provided by the solar panels. And if the sun isn't shining, the smart Solar Edge controller will recharge both batteries at night when the electricity rates are lower. It was a pleasure working with Peter Hansen and Guelph Solar. I'm really pleased with the system which they put together for me. I highly recommend Guelph Solar.

January 2021: I've now had the Guelph Solar panel - Tesla Powerwall system for two years and I continue to be very happy with it. With the Powerwall app on my phone, I can check from anywhere, the power being used by the house, the solar power flowing into the system, power flow from the Powerwall battery and how much power I'm taking from the grid. I can also adjust the energy reserve stored in the Powerwall battery. Most days during the winter I can set the energy to be reserved in the battery at 80 % (10.8 kWh) at 7 PM. The Powerwall then takes power from the grid to charge the battery up to that amount. At midnight, I reset the reserve to 30 % and the Powerwall then feeds energy back to the house overnight. Usually by 9 AM (when the sun begins to shine) the Powerwall still has about 50% of its energy left. Depending on how much sun is available, little energy is required from the grid (typically 1 kWh) to run the house until 7 PM again. So almost all the energy I get from the grid is during the Off-Peak hours. If a storm is expected, the reserve energy in the Powerwall can be adjusted so that there will be adequate energy to last through the grid being down.
The solar panel - Powerwall system is great whether you are able to feed into the grid or not. It saves money and keeps the heat and lights on when the grid goes down.

The fellas at Guelph Solar were able to diagnose and fix my net metering system even though they were not the installers. A couple of hiccups (to be expected when you're not the installer) but had everything up and running in the time window they gave! Well done and highly recommend!!!

I highly recommend Guelph Solar. Our system consistently outperforms the estimates they gave me in their quote. The customer service from the whole team is incredible. They truly care about their customers and the systems they install and get back to you very quickly after contacting them. In almost four years, I have rarely had to contact them because everything is working great.

Guelph Solar took over maintenance from a company that didn't set my system up properly in the first place. It took a little to sort things out, but they did an admirable job, and I was happy with their billing. It was a little complex, but they got things worked out to my satisfaction. Thanks guys (and gals, maybe?)
