Trout River Pottery

Got a demonstration of how a mug is made, bought 2 mugs, returned a few weeks later with more family, bought more mugs. Love them!

Nice little spot, and really nice pottery. The owner/potter was working on an order in his studio, and showed us a bit of his process. Very personable, and a very enjoyable visit.

Found this little gem of a shop down a winding country road…only to find it wasn’t opened.. but the owner saw us, came out to meet us and let us come inside.. he took the time to unpack three crates of his pottery so we could choose what we wanted plus gave us a crash course on using the pottery wheel! It sure made our day as all the other pottery shops we came across were closed and only opened on weekends. His work is beautiful and vibrant, so glad I found it, I’ll be back!

We stopped into the Charlottetown farmers market during our Atlantic Canada roadtrip and the Trout River Pottery caught our eye. We loved their "stormy weather" line but they only had one of the coffee mugs left. A quick call to the studio to confirm availability and short drive later we met Darren (Potter) to pick up a set of the coffee mugs we wanted! Darren even took some time to show our family a demonstration (Thank you!). Darren mentioned he has been doing this for over 30 years and it definitely shows in his work. Great studio, friendly owners, and amazing pieces to choose from. I highly recommend to visit them at the farmers market or take the scenic drive to their studio.

Darren is an amazing artist! 10/10 would recommend we have been buying his work for years!
