Barry Doucette's Deep Sea Fishing

We took the early evening charter and it was a wonderful experience. Jason and Jamie Doucette are very welcoming aboard and fun to be with as our captains. We started out catching mackeral and then headed further out for some cod. It wasn’t too hard to catch fish (we caught quite a few). I somehow even managed to catch an endangered wolffish (I had to throw it back due to it being endangered and also how large and sharp it’s teeth are). At the end of the trip we were given a couple bags of freshly fillet fish!!! Overall, I would highly recommend you try them out. It’s an experience you won’t forget!

We had so much fun. Everything was explained very thoroughly to us which was extremely appreciated as we had never been deep sea fishing before. The guys were really helpful with teaching us how to catch the different fish and were always on hand to help us bait the hooks, remove the fish we caught and untangle any lines. We left with plenty of freshly filleted fish at the end of the night! We will definitely be going again!! 🤩

We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening of fishing. We were mostly inexperienced, and everything was explained and demonstrated clearly. The Doucettes were friendly and made us feel very welcomed. We went in knowing that we might not catch anything, but the fish were really biting and everyone was catching fish as soon as their line was in the water. We took home plenty of fresh (cleaned and filleted) mackerel. The scenery was beautiful as well.

Ages in our group ranged from 4 to 70, and everyone had fun. The water was a little choppy -- gravol was helpful for a couple of us, but most were fine. And it can get a little messy. I got all of the fish muck stains out of my white shirt, but wearing a dark shirt would have been a better idea. We had packed a couple of backpacks with hoodies, jackets, etc. for the kids and set them under the benches, but we realized after a little while that they were sitting in a bit of water. Don't bring anything you don't want getting wet or fishy.

They fit us in last minute which was fantastic. Our family had a great time. Sad not to catch cod but not surprised either as it will take a long time before the population rises. Hubby and 12 year old son had a great time bbqing the mackerel at our campsite.
