The house is beautiful. The moment you walk in, you smell firewood burning. There are cute antiques within the house and the washrooms were very clean. We rented bikes here for $25+tax for 4 hours and the lady who gave us our bikes was very friendly and helpful in adjusting our bike seats. The only issue was that the selection of bike sizes was limited so my mom and I got very uncomfortable and ill-fitting bikes.

We have visited this site over the years and this year decided to stay overnight as well as enjoy the restaurant. Both were excellent. I understand there can be mixed reviews of the rooms because they vary in size so very much. Our room was a king bed and comfortable and roomy however this is certainly a historic building and not the lap of luxury a newer building would provide. That being said we liked the period pieces in the room, and our floor had a very high ceiling and great large artwork on the wall. The bathroom was smaller , clean of course but basic with very little room for placing things etc.

The food and wait staff were excellent and the recommendations the wait staff made for our meal was very good. Schedule some time for just relaxing and enjoying the first floor lounge area. We are hoping to return again.

Beautiful house and a great place for a delicious lunch in the porch and hangout by the lake

Beautiful national historic site, and the bike rental is a nice perk to the nearby park. I did not go to the restaurant located inside, it did look quite fancy. I did rent a bike from them though and it was perfect.
