Do NOT take a Windsor chair making course with Tony Peirce of Windsor Heritage. He will immerse you in 5 days of expert instruction in his large, perfectly outfitted – great lighting, always sharp tools, well stocked – shop. His gentle, humorous style of teaching will have you making chair parts in no time. Sue, his wife & chef, will spoil you with from-scratch lunches & snacks to die for. At the end of this most enjoyable week you will leave with a Windsor chair made with your own hands and a head full of knowledge and new skills. You will feel empowered, ecstatic even at your accomplishment. Arriving home, you’ll eventually put your new chair in your shop or garage to tweak it just a bit, before putting on the coats of milk paint and finish. There, you’ll realize your shop is not very well lit nor are the tools very sharp. At lunch time you’ll wander into the kitchen to dig through the fridge for “the usual”. A despondency will set in as you realize things just aren’t the same away from Windsor Heritage. Your life will be ruined. I believe there is a solution, at least in the short term: take another course with Tony and Sue. That’s my plan.

Tony's 5-day course was absolutely wonderful! The one-on-one instruction made it very enjoyable to learn new skills and work on the chair at a comfortable pace. My dad and I took the course together and Tony was very generous and patient with his skills and knowledge, which was perfect for a beginner like me and an experienced craftsman like my dad. And if you're lucky enough to enjoy some of Sue's baking and/or cooking then you're in for a real treat. Tony and Sue are gracious hosts and they made us feel very well taken care of. I would highly recommend this course to anyone interested in the craft of chair-making.

I visited Tony while he was working on his chairs. He is a very creative dedicated artist. The chairs are authentic and beautiful. A really beautiful addition to your home. I strongly recommend him.

I just finished a 6 day course with Tony at Windsor Heritage and i loved every minute of it. During the course I was able to learn a bunch of new skills, reinforce old ones and walk away with a beautiful chair that will serve me well for the rest of my life. If you want a windsor chair and want to learn how they are made i can't recommend Tony's course highly enough.

The Windsor chairs I purchased are the most beautiful pieces of furniture I own! I preferred to order these handmade beauties for my dining table instead of factory built chairs. They are comfortable to sit on, as well as beautiful to look at.
