I have been visiting the botanical gardens for most of life, and it's honestly a beautiful place to visit, no matter the season. My most recent trip was during the winter, but it still took us an hour or two to go through all of the greenhouse sections that they have. Beyond name plates near the plants, there are information signs throughout that explain the plants specific to the region (desert, rain forest/tropical, etc.), as well as information about how the plants are used. The green houses are mostly accessible in that there's one part of it that has stairs that lead to an observation space, but it is optional and does not impede visitors from moving forward. You may also be pleasantly surprised to see some small animals (mostly birds) in the green houses.
For other seasons in the green houses, you can find carved and decorated pumpkins, or interact with butterflies. The animation/activities are open to all ages, though some may be more geared towards families/children.
For the grounds, there are multiple themed gardens to explore: roses, local flora, Chinese garden (where the lantern displays are hosted in October/November), the Japanese garden, and the First Nations garden. There is also an arboretum at the far end of the grounds, and many walking paths of varying distances.
Finally, the services and facilities: there are washrooms in the main building at the front entrance, some near the restaurant further into the grounds, and again at the arboretum. There are two main spaces that you can get food from, one is fuller meals, while the other is a counter for snacks. The souvenir shop has natural, local products (blueberry teas, soap bars, maple products), artisanal items, and information about gardening - as well as a section geared towards children. If you fancy growing your own garden, you can find plants in the shop's greenhouse.
Suffice to say, I highly recommend this space, and will certainly be returning to the gardens.
PEACEFUL place.
Being from Brazil, I can say that I was really nice to see plants and trees that are so common for us, but you don't actually have it here!
I was even able to see some fruit trees that I even haven't seen for a while in Brazil.
I want with a friend and his 1 year old daughter, and she loved it! I guess this is a place you'd enjoy taking your kids.
Note: I went there on winter.
One of the best in the world in spring and summer, there is a lovely flower bed display. On long summer days spend your time passing the hours on one of the seats overlooking the duck pond under the shade of a big tree. The cafe is quite good if you are stopping in for morning coffee or lunch and would recommend.
🏴 Flag as inappropriateThe botanical garden of Montreal is great. You can visit all year long. Here are lots of photos opportunities and videos. Photographers come here to shoot weddings. This location is also really big. You can walk and admire the beauty of the place. Every year there are lots of activities for the whole family.
🏴 Flag as inappropriateGreat place to have a picnic and spend the day with the family. Tickets range from $15 - $21 for adults. Very reasonable price for the amount of gorgeous outdoor space you get to explore. The garden host all kind of different shows & events during the summer months, so don't forget to check out their event calendar on their web page. Give your body a treat! Have a visit and get some good exercise and clean air in your system!
