Meeting and chatting with the warm and wonderful owner (Renaldo). His parents immigrated from an hour south of Rome, we laughed about having so much in common other than same 1st name. Our morning stop until we leave Montreal.

(February 11, 2020, 4:41 pm)We adored this place. Great location if you're staying the old town. Lovely little cafe with plenty of seating at tables and at the window. The owner is very friendly and helpful (and multilingual!), and the food and drink are great! Combines real Italian coffee culture with cozy Canadian ambiance. We went back three times, and had a wonderful time drinking machiatos and eating the sandwiches and cookies, as well as reading the foreign magazines that are in the front window. We'll definitely stop by again next time we're in town.

(March 17, 2019, 9:44 pm)On my visit to Cafe Mercanti i had the Caffe latte. It was excellent, you can taste the quality in it compared to some of the big name chains of coffee shops. The barista was great, listening to him speak to the customers in Italian brought me back to when i was in some of the coffee shops in Italy. There was a great assortment of Italian merchandise and sweets. The only item, and perhaps it's because I was there on a Sunday in winter when there's generally not many people in the old port, is that there wasn't much of a savoury option when it came to food. Overall great choice for a coffee! Feel free to like if you agree!

The cafe is really cozy and the service was really fast and friendly.
They have great choices of cookies and they had panetone too! Delicious!
The decor is fun and its in a really good location of Old Montreal.
We totally recommend.
