"Ideal for family reunions": With several shades!

During the last weekend of Labor Day (August 31 - September 3) we stayed with family at the Inuksuk cottage in Ste-Beatrix. Our family has three generations: 3 children (4 to 10 years) and 5 adults / parents, and 2 grandparents. Here are our impressions of this establishment and our experience.

Highlights: The construction - three floors of round wood and open areas - is original and grand. The decoration of the chalet is very successful and neat, and in every room: beautiful plants, exotic paintings, interesting photos, sculptures, musical instruments, antiques, etc. The site is quiet and enchanting. The bird's eye view of the main balcony on Lake Emmanuel and the forest on the other side of the lake is magical. The owner is easily accessible, attentive and very friendly.

Weak points: The chalet offers at most adequate comfort. Shortcomings include lack of equipment (eg dishwashers, glassware and cookware incomplete), faulty equipment (kitchen sink faucet, hard to close and open exterior doors, DVDs, lights that do not work, etc.), and lack of privacy (two closed rooms only). In addition, the cottage has several security risks. Note the short walkway to the main entrance (not easy to negotiate with a suitcase and two groceries), the long narrow spiral staircase that connects the three floors, the small walk to the entrance to the hall shower on the lower level, lack of lighting in several rooms, lack of balustrade on the outer gallery of the lower floor and the outdoor path that connects the space for campfires to the cottage. Definitely not a place for children 3 years old and under and for adults with reduced mobility.

The lake and access to water: Lake Emmanuel is very small but very pretty. Ideal for kayak, canoe and pedalo. On the other hand, the lake is shallow and very muddy. Not very inviting for swimming. Access to the water is about 100 m from the chalet on a fairly steep slope via the shortest path. The "beach" is more or less developed. The water and beach facilities available at the cottage (picnic table, beach chairs, two canoes, a paddle boat and three oars) are unfortunately not in very good condition.

In conclusion, for families, the Inuksuk cottage is a magical place but not without significant penalties.
