Super fun for the kids at low tide. Many kinds of sea creatures to explore.

I had never been to Clayton beach before, but I had thought that Larrabee had the most wonderful views in Bellingham. I thought wrong! I went with a group just before sunset and hiked out to the beach, and as we walked across at low tide, the sun sank over the horizon, producing the most beautiful rays of light hitting the glistening sand. There are also cool wooden pikes protruding from the ground if you walk to one side of the beach, and plenty of really interesting rock formations to climb on. Great experience, highly recommend going for the view, especially if there is very light cloud coverage and the sun can bounce off of them.

Great place to take a tiny hike with minimal terrain! There's a few side trails around the rocks near the train tracks, so be on the lookout for them if you don't feel like climbing down the boulders. Down to the beach is a little rough so watch your step. There is a second beach with easy access to the left once you go over the tracks.
Great place for kids and nice dogs.
