We visited the Globe Restaurant today for a late lunch. It's been more than 30 years since our last visit, not because we didn't like the restaurant, but because we moved far afield. Today's lunch did not disappoint. Service was attentive but not overbearing. After being seated, drink orders were promptly taken. Our server then brought us warm multi-grain bread with herbed butter. My wife ordered the Arctic char and I wanted the brisket sandwich. As they had run out of brisket, they substituted sliced prime rib. This had to be one of the best prime rib sandwiches I've ever had. The meat was melt in the mouth tender, the bun fresh and tasty and toppings included aioli, lettuce, caramelized onions and more. My wife also enjoyed the Arctic char filet accompanied by whipped potatoes, broccoli, and braised cabbage. No complaints... great service, nice ambience and excellent food. If we lived closer we would definitely be back soon.
We went on a Saturday night on Thanksgiving and our first time here. Yes, it out of the way but worth the drive to Rosemont. We had a few Appetizers the mushroom Pâté and vegetable fritter both were excellent. For the mains, we had the Filet Mignon served with mash potatoes and vegetables. I had the Arctic Char pan-fried with corn and black beans and slaw. My nephew had chicken and fries. Everything was excellent, tasty and nicely presented. Only complain would be where we where seated was extremely dark. We had to use our iPhone as a flashlight.
I stopped at this restaurant with my two friends (in our 20s) on the way to Toronto and the experience was amazing! The waitress was a very nice, comforting, and suggested meals for us. The food was great too! We had the mushroom Pate, half chicken dinner, hand cut fries, chocolate mousse, creme brulee, and strawberry shortcake. All of it tasted amazing! The creme brulee was the best I have ever had, even better than a $20 one I had at an expensive restaurant. Everything had flavour and they even make their own ketchup. The portions were also large enough. It has the feel of an old school home and the prices are also sensible. They also gave us free bread at the start and gave us a small cookie for the rest of our trip. Would highly recommend this place!
