The Hearty Hooligan

The Hearty Hooligan is bar none the BEST vegan snacks and treats anywhere in Hamilton. The food is all unique vegan spins on classics junk food. The staff and owner are wonderful charismatic people who make the experience all that much more fun. The decor is funky, eclectic and colorful. I visit 2-4 times a month since I am 5 minutes away. Try their pizza pockets and baked goods!

Funky little vegan cafe with cool macabre decor. Didn't find many healthy food options but then I didn't realize it was self proclaimed vegan junk food so I guess it made sense after the fact. Pizza pocket was big - bigger than I thought it would be although they should fix the menu to say pocket singular instead of pockets. We also had the burrito and crunch wrap which were good sizes but way too spicy - not sure if they are always like this or we just got a bad "ground beef" batch but we couldn't even get halfway through, it was that spicy(and we like spicy). There was either too much spice in the "ground beef" or not enough other toppings to break up the spice but either way we brought most of them home and will be mixing it with other toppings for some nachos. It seemed to have a good taste otherwise? Desserts all looked tasty - we went with a cookie dough blizzurd and it was delicious. Gender neutral/welcoming washroom with change table, books for browsing/kids.

Fantastic vegan restaurant in Hamilton. The food was great and the staff was friendly.
My biggest issue was the parking. The parking kiosks and meters do not take cards or cash, only coins. This is not a reflection on the restaurant but it did make it difficult to find a place to park.

A hidden treasure waiting to be discovered! What a wonderful experience we had at The Hearty Hooligan. A very cozy restaurant featuring a wide range of food with unreal taste and very generous portions. The milkshakes are to die for and Johanna and the rest of the staff were really nice.
