Pretty standard "drive in" burger joint. They make their onion rings well done which is super tasty.
Exactly what you'd expect from a late-night burger joint that is more an institution than anything else.
The food:
Burgers are the top item on the menu. While moderate in post-cooking size, they are meaty, not fatty or overly salty as is common in such establishments. The cheese is somewhere between cheddar and American, but it works well in the burgers.
Toppings are adequate (think Harvey's) with fresh cut onions, pickles, etc...
The French fries are big enough to share and the onion rings are made in-house. A bit heavy on the batter and could have stood around for a while.
Open late and there's often a line up but it moves fast.
My suggestions: Definitely the cheeseburger (maybe a double) with the fries and onion rings combo. Absolutely worth the experience. It will become a late-night tradition for the 20—somethings in every generation.
I eat in this lovely spot quite often! This is the best place to pass a nice evening. I visit this place many times. The food is very tasty, the crew is courteous and the charge is affordable. I like meeting in this place over a decent dinner.
First, I ordered the, ugh, "Apache Burger". It was good. Not great, but good. Meat had a good flavour and the bun was a nice choice, very fresh and contained the toppings well. However I'm very hesitant to further write this review simply because small business owners have it hard. I get that. My sympathies to them, my father was a small business owner. But he was the type of owner who know not to get your customers to try to pay too many of the business cost. I cannot stand in this day and age places that do not have a debit machine and force you to use an off-brand ATM that charges a fee. I will grant that the fee on this was a reasonable dollar fifty, but nonetheless, get debit. I know I will not think of returning when I pass by this place, in large part to this practice.
The second part is the name. I understand that if it's been a long time business changing the sign and business name would be very costly. But you can get rid of the picture in the dining area. But mostly it's the lack of debit.
Apache Burger is a classic diner feel with of of the best burgers around. It's definitely one of the best places to get a quality hamburger. I'd highly recommend going if you've never been!
