T&CO at Mackenzie King Estate Tearoom

Spent a great day at the Mackenzie Estate today, had a great lunch at the Tearoom. The staff and server were absolutely wonderful and courteous. I had the most delicious veggie burger in a tasty Kaiser style bun with a mesclun, tomatoes cucumber and green onion salad topped with an amazing Dijon, olive oil and red wine vinegar dressing, my husband had the smoke meat sandwich plate that he recommends highly and also had the same salad as a side. We have serious lactose allergy and the server was very understanding an provided many substitutions on the dishes. The atmosphere is calm with a nice piano background music, the authentic surroundings and the cracking sound of the old floors make you feel like you are in another time. The prices are reasonable for the high quality food. Walked around the Estate for a few hours and came back for afternoon tea, had the Sri Lanka earl grey outside on the veranda looking out over the beautiful gardens with a generous slice of Queen Elizabeth cake which each bite was a sweet taste of coconut and butterscotch...one word: YUMMY! Will most certainly be returning in the near future and I recommend it highly.

Decided at the last minute to eat at the Tea Room because we had lots of time. The food was as good as any high end restaurant and the servers treated me as I expect to be treated in a high end restaurant. I don't remember what I had so maybe there is room for improvement there but I remember that it was OK for the money and the experience of eating at the Estate.
