Hog Wild BBQ

Hog Wild is our number one favorite place in Gulf Shores. The barbecue is amazing and we are in love with the Alabama white sauce. Almost hate to share this review because other people will discover the secret, but when we spend a week down here we don't go once but twice. First, on the long drive down, Hog Wild is the destination, and then we go again later in the week, it's that good!

GREAT BBQ at the beach!! Being from Kansas City where take our BBQ very seriously, I was skeptical at first but I was very impressed with Hog Wild! Highly recommend the pork BBQ Tacos with the cucumber and tomato salad. And try their different sauces...all are unique and very good!

We were hungry for lunch, driving by and decided to stop. I was hooked by the smell as I walked in! I (as usual) got the pulled pork plate with tomato cucumber salad and not your traditional slaw, hubs got the smoked crispy chicken with baked beans & potato salad. I loved the pork...it was full of the browned bits from the outside of the pork as it's smoking...lots of glorious flavor! Hubs said his chicken was very tender...fall off the bone tender...with a nice smoky flavor. The potato salad is the traditional mustard style, wasn't his favorite, but I thought it was delicious. He did like the slaw which has a touch of mustard in it. He said the baked beans were average...I agree. And the tomato cucumber salad was good and fresh. But...you come here for the meats!! Definitely try them out!

The woody smell of smoked meats was too much to for us to resist! We quite enjoyed our Southern Sweet Tea, Big T's Sampler with wings, sausage, pulled pork, and ribs. Our sides were just the comforts we felt we needed (green beans, fries and mac &cheese). A little country atmosphere is exactly what a sandy island needs, and Hog Wild BBQ provides!
