“After dropping my son off at school this morning, I almost did my normal routine and turned right onto 52 to head back to Opp to get breakfast. However at the last moment, I recalled seeing a sign out in the Perry Store Community that read "Now Serving Breakfast". So I hung a left and headed toward Perry Store. I got there around 7:45 to a nearly empty parking lot (there were 2 vehicles) and was able to walk right in the door. There were a handful of tables in the dining area, only one of which was occupied. I walked over to the counter and the lady on duty informed me that it was an all you can eat buffet, drink included. I paid and was given a tray and some silverware. I put them down on one of the empty tables and then made my way to the buffet. You can see the pictures I've posted for exactly what the buffet looked like, so I'll just tell you what I got ony first trip: scrambled eggs, biscuits and gravy, and some country ham. The eggs were cooked to perfection! Typically when you encounter scrambled eggs on a buffet, they're either overcooked to begin with (lots of brown edges mixed in with them) or they've sat there so long they've dried out. Not these. These were great. Nice start! The biscuits may have been frozen originally, but I wasn't 100% sure. They were still warm and soft and easy to open for the gravy to be poured over. The gravy was also very good. If it was from a mix, I couldn't figure out which one and was also creamier and better tasting than any of ever had before. Plus, there were nice large chunks of sausage in it, not tiny little bits! Finally, the ham. I'm not much of a fan of ham, personally and that's why I got it today. If the ham was good, then this was a can't miss place. On my second trip to the buffet, I got another helping of biscuits and gravy and a piece of link sausage. The sausage was amazing! As I was finishing up, I struck up a conversation with the owner and learned her and her husband's history behind opening the restaurant. It was at that time that she suggested I try what she called the "croissant cheese cake casserole". I think that's what she called it, anyway. She explained what it had in it and even though I was slap full, I tried it. Y'all, it was rich and creamy and absolutely decadent. Overall, two very high thumbs up to Renae's Country Kitchen. If you're from the area, please stop by and give them your business. If you're a spring breaker or other tourist looking for somewhere to eat, tell them Wesley sent you!”
