Food was amazing and portion size was insane!! I enjoyed everything. Will definitely be back soon.
This place was great. The chips and salsa wasn't to my families liking but the food was great. Fay made our dinner so enjoyable. The manager was nice and came by to greet our table. Didn't get his name tho. Food was wonderful and came out quick. Their regular margarita was delicious. But Fay topped it off with her excellent service
The salsa and chips (that you have to order and pay for as an appetizer) was probably the best thing we had followed by the Mexican street corn. Everything else we had was bland and had no spice or flavor. For the prices they charged the food should have been amazing. If you are looking for Mexican food and flavors this place is not it!! This was definitely a one and done for us.
We fell in love with the Little Donkey when we came to Birmingham for a concert and anniversary. The wait staff is so amazing. This year my husband asked where I wanted to go for our anniversary and without even thinking about said I wanted to go back to Alabama to eat at The Little Donkey. Special recognition to Alejandro (our waiter). He was so friendly. Now the manager Nick....treated us like family. So very kind and even his staff speaks highly of him. We have eaten lunch and dinner there and hopefully get to eat there again before we have to go back to TX. Oh yeah......the food is SECOND TO NONE. Everything is made fresh and is the best. Thank you Alabama for the hospitality and friendliness we can't get in our part of TX.
Despite not having lived in the area for a few years now, every winter I find myself remembering a lunch I had here during a chance encounter on a snowy (well, for Alabama) day. The most impressive part of the meal was also so simple: the caramelized onions. Few restaurants will take the time to properly caramelize onions, but this one did so perfectly and I haven't forgotten it since. The flavors in the bowl I had were so cohesive and fresh. I will certainly go back if I ever have the chance.
