OK, nobody else has said this, but I will. Avoid sitting on one of the two wall benches. The benches against the walls are very very shallow. Extremely uncomfortable. This is coming from a petite person.
Has the owner actually sat in them? For an entire meal? Please try this. Replacing the seats of these benches would be an easy fix.
After hearing the hype online my wife and I tried it today. Most of the food was overcooked and the Mac and cheese had heat, but very little cheese flavor. The fried chicken was good. The servers were excellent. My other issue was the seating was too close together and it was hard to hear over the noise.
Great new place in Athens. We were seated immediately, the menu has a very wide variety. Got the pork chop bone in and fried catfish, both were excellent. The brussel sprouts were delicious and the house potatoes were great. Plenty of food on both plates. Service was great, tea was sweet. No room for dessert, they sounded great. The bill was very appropriate for the amount of food and how it tasted. If you want great food, different choices you gotta be willing to pay for it. I hope they are here to stay. Great addition to the square.
We stopped in for dinner at the southern table tonight for dinner and everything was amazing. The staff is super friendly and attentive. We got the duck biscuits, fried chicken, crispy Brussels salad with beef tenderloin and the banana pudding. Everything was delicious! Highly recommend checking them out!
First visit to this new Athens, AL restaurant. Great food, great service. Filled up fairly quickly for lunch. Appetizer was 4 large fried green tomato slices (1-1/2 of which are shown on the small plate). My wife had the pimento grilled cheese and fries. I had the meat and two. Two fried pork chops with white beans and collard greens. Food was very good and arrived fairly quickly, too. Drinks were promptly refilled as necessary. Happy to have this place transplanted from Pulaski and hope they'll be in business for a long time.
