We ate there twice in late April. The waitstaff and cooks were great with my friend's dietary restrictions. The food and service and atmosphere and prices were great!!
While the staff was good and the restaurant was well stocked and clean, the food was just okay for the price. My husband had the Sirloin and I had the NY Strip. We both asked for rare, and got more med to med rare. The steaks was fine, but no flavor and the garnish was a steak sauce. The sides were good. Just wished the main dish was a bit more.
Food and service were both excellent and the food was cooked to perfection. I'm a grill chef and I don't think I could have gotten my burger a more perfect medium myself. Definitely recommend the cheese curds, spinach dip, 1899 burger, and chicken sandwich. The 1899 old fashioned was good too but a little sweet and too light on the bourbon for me.
Great staff the executive chef was very helpful with selection of food and drinks. Our waitress was attentive and made sure we were well taken care of. Our appetizers were very delicious and perfect portions. We split our dinner and they split up on two plates, and each plate had huge portion. We walked out very pleased and satisfied.
The unofficial faculty club at NAU- classy with good food, and a bar. (Students are welcome too). Fair prices. A great place for business meals on campus. Can handle medium and large groups, and has a private ante-room for sensitive meetings. 1899 takes your NAU dining dollars! :)
