(March 22, 2019, 5:02 am)We pulled off the 10 in bumper to bumper with the sun directly in my eyes. We were desperate for food and a break. The fast food joints across the street smelled terrible and looked worse. El Compadre is a strip mall Taqueria. The waitress was sweet and spoke no English. Fortunately we speak some Spanish. The food was muy auténtico if a bit on the greasy side. I asked her if she got gringos here very often. She said very seldom. There was another worker there who's English was fine. We had tacos. They came with grilled onions and a big jalapeño, fresh cucumber, radish, and boiled carrot slices. Good salsa, no chips. Mission accomplished!
