This restaurant was SO good! Smelling the fire walking in, all the fresh ingredients, it all came together very nicely. The flavors were so good and very "clean" tasting. Def worth trying!
A friend brought me here after she saw it reviewed on PBS. We both liked it. I got the sampler which I highly recommend - more variety.
The wood fired oven is interesting to see. The ordering process is fairly straightforward. The menu is on a chalkboard and changes daily. My friend would have preferred the more common paper menu and found the chalkboard confusing. Shrug. Menu is small. There seemed to be a lot of beverages - not my thing.
Outdoor eating area quite nice. In July ... I'd be less enthusiastic.
Great, fresh food. Very casual. You order at the counter, seat yourself, and someone will bring your food as it's ready.
It is pricey for that style of casual service. But the food is not casual food. Tasted very fresh, light, and filling. Expect $30/person. Staff was great.
What a cool place. Stopped in for lunch with a friend who told me this was the best sandwich I will ever eat. That's a bold claim! We'll, the sandwich was darn good. Best ever? Nope, but it was definitely enjoyed. Frankly, I can't remember the best sandwich I ever ate, because, well, it's a sandwich. Not the type of thing one usually remembers.
Back to Pa'la. The interior is minimalist with a lot of outdoor seating. They cook everything over wood fires, which just looks super cool. Menu changes daily, so plan on being unplanned. They clearly put a lot of effort into their food, which justifies the prices.
I look forward to another meal here and recommend you try one too.
We have been wanting to try this restaurant for so long. We finally had the pleasure of meeting Claudio and eating his delicious food. My husband had the mussels with delicious homemade bread. I enjoyed the grain bowl with Idaho trout. Everything was delicious. We started with marinated olives and almonds, then fresh anchovies. What a gem.
