BOCA by Chef Maria Mazon

Food was good. All the toppings made it fancy. We were served 4 different types of salsa to try, very delicious to go with the tacos. We ordered the burro, it's a big burrito tastes good, but the meat was too chewy. We loved the shrimp and fish taco. Taco dog was a little messy but good too. Service was a little slow, but decent experience overall.

BOCA tacos are the real deal! Homemade salsas, tortillas, chips and inspired flavors. Our server Tina expertly guided us through the menu. Portions are generous, and the made to order chips with 5 unique salsas were impossible to stop eating.

Delicious tacos! We had an array of salsas to start. Very inventive flavors and lots of fun. The octopus was delicious. Sadly, we only had room for two tacos each. Very flavorful. Service was great!

I had lots of excitement to eat at BOCA based on the chef's reputation and existing reviews. I was shockingly dissapointed. I ordered three different tacos to cover my bases. Each arrived with a cold tortilla and only mildly warm interior. I was told that (at the time) their tortillas aren't made in house, but no locally sourced tortilla should be comparable to Mission tortillas, especially at the level this restaurant aims to be. The meats and garnishes were fine, but lots of other restaurants also serve fine tacos. That said, the salsas were creative and very good, but none could save the meal. So BOCA was alright, but you could do better.

We will definitely be back! The food was superb and we loved the atmosphere. The taco fillings were generous and I love the unique salsas that accompanied the chips in the chip and salsa "flight." We should have taken half the chips home, but we ate almost all of them, as they were so good. The only disappointment I had was in not getting to meet chef/owner Maria Mazon, who we followed and cheered for on last season's Top Chef. ANOTHER reason to back!
