First the good: the cast iron baked eggs were delicious and unique, the biscuits and gravy were very good, and the omelet was tasty. Now for the bad: the service was just OK, and the food took almost 30 minutes to arrive after ordered. Also the baked eggs came out so hot I couldn't even touch it for another 5 minutes. That said it was still a very good restaurant and I would go again
I love this place. My husband and I have made it a new tradition to stay at the hotel for a weekend getaway. The Cup at Hotel Congress is the perfect breakfast spot after a night downtown. My favorite item on the menu is the Cast Iron Eggs and my husband loves the Creole Breakfast. Patio seating is lovely and indoor seating is smaller in terms of space, yet cozy. Food is served in a timely manner and staff is always friendly and wonderful here. The prices are worth every penny and their "Hotel Potatoes" are amazing. This little gem is unlike anywhere else and I hope to come back here for years down the road. Keep it up, Cup. :)
Definitely a very cafe/restaurant. The food selection is great, a little bit of everything. The portions were huge, so Definitely worth the money. Very nice atmosphere also. The inside has a ton of local art and connected to an old school theater. The outside patio area is amazing. Reminds me of The Hangout in Gulf Shores, which is a good thing. Tons of cover from the sun, a band area, space heaters, food trucks, and a smaller band area. Definitely a great place to try out with a family.
I really like this spot. It’s been a mainstay over the years, but they shine at brunch at Bloody Mary at the weekends for sure.
There’s a lot of things the Cup does I’ve never seen anywhere else, and their flavors are fantastic.
Expect a wait if you haven’t called ahead on the weekend.
You can order food to go and sit in the lobby (with your Bloody Mary) waiting if you find yourself stuck.
Serious history in the building and effectively a 24hr something to do.
Inside seating is nice, outside seating is spacious and is t too bad even in the summer.
They have bar seating if you want to snag a quick meal.
I’ve never been rushed to leave, and staff are friendly and consistently helpful.
Depot Salad is amazing for a quick lunch. It there really isn’t anything bad on the menu!
Tasty food and good drinks. Great atmosphere and I like the patio. The downside is I’m not convinced it’s worth the wait times. Having to make a reservation for one person to get a seat seems a little silly for what is basically a diner but if you are willing to do so I can’t say you’ll regret the dining experience.
