    I’d give Mr. Patron a 3.5 if I could…but hey.

I’m trying to wrap my brain around Mexican Sushi…I’m struggling. Something I’ve noticed when it comes to Mexican sushi is the fish seems to be flavorless…and I’m someone who likes to taste her raw fish, which of course means it must be good quality and cut well. Oddly, the most unappealing part about the whole genre to me is the lack of (quality) fishy flavor?

The rolls were carefully made, but overall the flavor was flat…the rice was very neutral - zero flavor, tightly packed so you got a lot of it. I understand how swinging to rice too far vinegary or sugary can backfire in complicated “everything” rolls but the rice was *too* neutral…. But I think that’s where the sauces come in. We were given four bottled sauces and a bowl of peppers, and liberal use on the rolls helps the flavors. The jalapeño sauce on the Cheeto roll was a great combo.

The Mexican sushi rolls are big - we definitely over ordered (kid no longer eats like a teenager…who knew). We opted for mostly cooked shrimp in our rolls…and the shrimp quality was good. I was a bit surprised at the fry on the rolls..I expected more of a tempura type fry and the method(s) used were quite different…and quite frankly they may want to try switching it up, because I think a different fry would help.

I did enjoy the aguachile tostada, except the veggies and shrimp need to be cut smaller. Big pieces are difficult to turn into an even bite. The quality of the ingredients were very good. The salmon tempura roll was the best roll we tried. The salmon on top had a great fry.

Mexican sushi aside, I’m hoping to return to try more traditional dishes using their seafood and sauces, because I suspect those dishes will be very good. I think the chef has good ideas…just needs to tune the rice because it’s wiping out the roll flavors. I also want to try some margaritas because I have a feeling…

Fresh tasty Mexican food at reasonable prices. Good size portions. The bacon wrapped burro was full of tasty meat. They took care in making it along with beautiful presentation. Great attentive service too! Definitely going back to try the sushi.

    Happy hour Monday-Friday 3-6pm

Portions of food were very generous. Loved the fish Tacos and Salad with chicken. Very authentic. The sushi rolls we ordered were okay. Staff was very friendly and helpful.

Their food was delicious & the portions were generous. This is more of a seafood than Mexican food restaurant. I tried both the Beef Taquitos & Paraíso Tostada which were both delicious but way too much food for one person.

I also tried the Jacinto Roll my nephew got. This is not something I would order but he & his niece loved it.

This is seafood like when you cross the border to eat. Simply delicious.

Very nice experience. Shared 8 different sushi rolls with my wife, daughter and granddaughter. Plane on going back. Highly recommend Mr. Patron.
