Touring the inside of a cave was on my bucket list and Colossal Cave did not disappoint! I first went on the Classic tour because I didn't think I had the physical strength to do any of the climbing tours.

The Classic walking tour was an hour long and led by a knowledgeable guide. The tour was very interesting and beautiful! The walking paths and stairs are nice. Don't let the stair count scare you! It's a slow descent and slow ascent so it's entirely manageable for all ages. There are occasionally some drop-offs on either side of the walking path, so if you bring very small children, at these parts of the path, carry them or just keep them close. The guide talked a little about some of the places you can see in the cave and things you can do on the other tours and told me know that I could absolutely do the Ladder tour or the Intermediate tour.

I went back a couple days later for the Ladder tour and I'm SO glad I did! It was so fun and I saw many new parts of the cave that I didn't see on the walking tour. You only need to be able to crouch, crawl, and do basic clambering for the Ladder tour and the Intermediate tour. Basic mobility and average agility is required. I highly recommend all these tours!

Such a cool spot! We did the cave tour, and it was fascinating. It was easy, no tight spots. Our tour guide was energetic and knowledgeable. I just wish we could have explored the cave more! We also hiked around some of the trails and had lots of fun checking out the desert vegetation. I highly recommend it!

Beautiful piece of history. The staff is friendly, bathrooms were clean, and the views are beautiful.

Now the cave: it is 70 degrees, but you do not need a jacket because it is stagnant air and quite humid (100% humidity this trip) for a long period of the journey underground. Tour guides love what they do, so they add a bit of humor into what can be a long walk for little kids.

My husband and I did the Ladder Tour and it was fun! Nancy, the tour guide lady, was very knowledgeable and you can tell that she loves doing what she is doing! As we toured the cave, we felt comfortable and just had a laugh. Highly recommend it. We would go again!
P.S. Don't bother bringing a back pack if your doing the ladder tour, just bring a small fanny pack =)

We experienced the Ladder Tour with out of town friends who love caves. Nancy was the lead guide and Helena was her apprentice. They were both full of geologic knowledge and fun facts. Nancy saved one of our lives on the ladder over the neverending hole. The tour was just the right amount of fear. So, if you are up to it, we highly recommend the Ladder Tour with Nancy and Helena!!!
