McGarity's Restaurant & Saloon ® -- Eureka Springs, AR

A couple of thoughts from my trip there:

1. Food was excellent. Especially the cottage pie.

2. Love the way that things were plated like grandmas house on thanksgiving. It felt endearing and homey.

3. While I think that the prices were a bit high, I don’t find them too abnormal. I do however, think that if they are going to have prices that are that high then they need to have a better standard of service. It didn’t really seem like the server had any type of menu training, no service training, she walked up to the table And said it was her first day, she knew nothing about the menu she didn’t even introduce herself. She just asked what we wanted to drink. She was a nice lady but for those kinds of prices, do a little better with the steps of service and server training. It’s also not fair to the server as you’re setting them and their customers up for failure.

4. The potato chips at the table… I get that it’s supposed to be cute but it felt cheap and tacky. If you’re going to give free apps, make it something homemade at least and not out of a bag. Especially when people can fill up on free chips and not order things like dessert or apps or more drinks. I think it would be better to not have a free starter at all than to use the chips.

5. Interior was super cute! Music was a bit loud and made it hard to talk but love the decorating. Would like some more atmospheric lighting such as lamps or something softer than blue LED overhead lights but overall, love the theme and decor. Super cute.

Definitely will be going back!

We had dinner at McGarity's yesterday and it was fantastic! We started with the pub cheese and pretzel--both were delicious, especially the cheese. We both decided on Irish dishes for our first visit, though we had a hard time deciding, given that there are so many great options. We ended up with the Bangers and Mash and the Shepherds Pie. Both were outstanding--very flavorful and hot coming out of the kitchen. The additional side of grits was also great. Our server, Venus, was very attentive, and Bobby jumped in to pick up an empty plate if he was walking by. We had a chance to chat with J from the kitchen so that we could compliment him on how good everything was and how much we enjoyed it. Having watched the exterior transformation over the last months, we were delighted to see the inside which is completely transformed from Cafe Amore to an Irish pub and is VERY well done. The atmosphere, decor and mix of music were all wonderful. We have already shared with our neighborhood our excellent experience at McGarity's and we can't wait to return!

Our server "Venus" is the best in the house ! Our lunch was delicious , cheddar cheese burger , fries , the shrimp & fish !!! Great atmosphere and the hours can't be beat !

When we walked on they were playing upbeat Irish tunes and I knew we were in for a treat! Its nice inside; themed but not too much clutter. They have playing cards to mess with while waiting for food and drinks We got the fried green tomatoes with cajun sauce (loved), chicken salad sandwich and fries (huge), and several sides for our vegetarian (they were alright). A Shiner Blonde and bottled root beer rounded it out. Would recommend.

The fried green tomatoes were out of this world! If you’re like me and never had them before you have to try them. Atmosphere is amazing. Service was awesome! You are paying for great authentic Irish food and it is worth the experience! 🍀🇮🇪
