Zeke and Greg were very welcoming and made sure to let us know all that was available. Their specials change everyday, but the special smothered beef tips and smothered chicken were amazing! The fried corn bread was amazing, as well, I had never had corn bread like that. If you are into some great tasting greens, this is the place, too! Everything about the plate was fantastic. Come try Big Mama's Soul Food!
I ordered my food to go: I ordered one (1) pork chop dinner with a side of mashed potatoes & a small salad & a 3 piece fish plate dinner, with mash potatoes and side of spaghetti. Both were super flavorful & freshly made, within 10-15 mins. Got my dinner home & it was super warm. The best tasting fish dinner & pork chop I've ever had. So good! Give'm a try, as I feel you will be pretty surprised as to how good it is. 👌
Good food and even better people. It’s rare the owner actually works within their restaurant and here Zeke does. Good atmosphere and nice outdoor space to enjoy on these nicer days coming up!
If you are in Hot Springs, you need to stop by this place and get you a plate! Seasoning is on point! No doubt I will be coming back. Got the fried chicken, green beans and mashed potatoes. It was all delicious.
Fridays catfish special was THE BEST!!! Two big fillets with a delicious seasoned cornmeal crust- the fillets were all lovely flaky white meat and tasted fresh, some of the best I’ve had in Hot Springs. The fried pork chop was another special that day and it was worth the wait. It takes longer bc it’s all made to order and the chop was a big portion so needs time to cook through. It was perfectly breaded, needed just a lil more salt but seriously a great price for the portion. The only other special running that Friday was a spaghetti special and it looked good coming out so this place definitely is where it’s at for specials. I originally stopped bc of the name and we seriously need some good soul food restaurants in this town. I was looking forward to greens, beans, and some sort of fried meaty delight or stewed something. The menu at first was a big let down for me bc it’s only burgers, wings, Phillies, and salads…. Not very soul foodie compared to my other culinary adventures but it says on the menu there is soul food specials every day (the server mentioned Sunday is the big day for the soul food comforts like greens) so I was happy about that and to find beans as a side, corn and they were so awesome they whipped up some mash potatoes for us bc fried chops deserve a little taters to dip it in here and there 😁. It also came with a roll which was a nice surprise and definitely appreciated. The atmosphere is still in the works as they just opened, and hopefully the music is working now as that really was the only downer about dining in. On beautiful days there is a nice patio outside that will definitely be nice to enjoy a good, hearty meal and watch the cars fly by. While dining someone came in for a job application and the guy working was really nice to him and mentioned they are a small family business and will hold onto the resume for the future at this time. It definitely shows this is a small family business bc everything tastes homemade and with heart. Give these guys a shot and come show some support for some good soul food 🩷 We need more of this in this town.
