We happened to see the truck while visiting Hot Springs and stopped. We were pleasantly surprised at how good the pies were. AND THEY’RE NOT GREASY. We had coconut, apple, chocolate and pecan. All 4 were very good. Go give them a try. You won’t be disappointed.
The promos for Morrison's says "the best pies in the South" and after trying their wares I believe they're likely right!!!
I had the apricot and Donna had the cherry.....
The crusts were flaky and light, just the right crispiness and not oily or greasy.
The fillings were full of flavorful fruit and not too sweet - very very good!
These fried pies were an outstanding treat!!!!!
Highly recommend!!!!!
Other reviews are right; not greasy at all. Really fresh ingredients. Friendly owners who described the pies and explained items not listed on the side of the truck.
The flaky crust and the warm interior ingredients are the perfect combination.
We will most likely route our road trip back through this town just to have these pies again, no joke. Especially the empanada. It will be exciting to try other fruit flavors.
Thanks for the recommendation for hiking trails in the surrounding areas as well as history on the dam.
First time trying pies here. They were delicious. The woman told us they never have day old pies, they are made fresh each morning. She said no preservatives. We tried the lemon, peach. pecan cheesecake, and a beef with chillies. She does a punch card buy a dozen get one free. We will definitely be back.
Claiming to be the best in the South, I could get behind that but there aren't many places that serve these kinds of foods which makes this place truly unique. I say this so folks will recognize the wonderful opportunity to enjoy these high quality foods. For example, you can order both peach and apricot pies here. When I was there they had both on hand. I tried the blueberry, an apricot, and a pecan pies. Although they're full, and a good size, they don't last long and that's because they're so delicious! I didn't feel too guilty eating two as they're not loaded with sugar like ones you'd buy at the store. These are also made and served the same day, I believe, so everything tastes so fresh. I stopped here when the weather was good and there were no lines. Yes, they do accept credit and debit cards and not just cash. Everybody that I have met here have been very nice. I had originally met the owner somewhere in town, then later visited this place per his request. I'm glad that he suggested it because it's truly a rare treat!
